Threatening a media representative is an open challenge to state policy and the rule of law. We consider the pressure on a Fergana Media employee not only as an attack on an individual but also as an attack on freedom of speech. Any "street" groups or individuals making threats must be held accountable under the law. To the leadership of the law enforcement agencies of the Fergana region! Today, ensuring openness in society and the free operation of mass media have been defined as a priority direction of state policy. However, cases of pressure on media employees by individuals who disregard current laws and consider themselves to be living in past times governed by "street laws" are being observed.
According to the details of the situation, unidentified individuals have begun openly threatening Yodgorbek Kushakboev, a representative of the Fergana Media outlet, in connection with his performance of official duties. These individuals, posing as "street heroes," have launched a campaign to intrude into the media representative's personal life, identify his place of residence, and exert physical pressure.
We firmly state that the Fergana Media team will not leave its representative alone in the face of any pressure or threats under any circumstances. Hindering the lawful activities of a media representative is a criminal act directed against democratic reforms and public transparency. In this regard, we request that law enforcement agencies immediately initiate an investigation into this incident, ensure the safety of the media representative Yodgorbek Kushakboev, identify the individuals making threats and take legal action against them, and practically protect the constitutional rights to ensure the inviolability of the media representative.
